The fastest growing subgroup in the nation are English Language Learners (ELLs). Over a period of 10 years, from 1995 to 2005, ELL students grew over 60% (Wolf, Herman, Bachman, Bailey, Griffin, 2008). Since 1980, the number of residents aged five years and older that speak a language other than English at home has more than doubled. Fewer than half of these residents are proficient in English. Utah is showing similar trends in population as it is growing more ethnically and racially diverse. Families coming into Utah are immigrants that do not speak English at home. While the majority of Utahan’s are White, Utah Quick Facts from the U.S. Census Bureau (2014) show that Hispanic/Latinos represents 13.3% of Utah’s largest ethnic group. Asians represent 2.2%, American Indians/Alaskan Natives 1.5%, Blacks/African American 1.3%, and Pacific Islanders 0.9%. Not only is the ELL population growing, but the diversity of students is growing as well. It is the responsibility of Utah’s school administrators, school board members, and teachers to provide an equitable and challenging education to all students. Universities studies begin from post-secondary education, due to the huge numbers of universities through Egypt, teaching and examination procedure differ from each university. Al-Azhar education is totally diverse from the previous levels, its holds of primary stage (four years), preparatory stage (3 years), and secondary stage (3 years). Then the students are automatically accepted in Al Azhar University. There are almost 8,000 Al Azhar schools crosswise Egypt and only one university. All students areMuslims and religious subjects are touched though all stages, as well girls and boys are separated in different classes. IV. Types of Schools and universities Government schools Government schools was established in the 19th century, it includes two types (experimental language schools and Arabic schools) , in experimental language schools the teaching in English but only social studies is teached in Arabic, and French is add as second language in preparatory stage. Even though Holmes’s work is secretive, he still needs a good friend which helps him with his mysteries. One of the Sherlock Holmes’s characteristics is that he is an unusual observer as well as extremely cunning person. He works as a detective because his guilefulness, smartness, association with facts, and perceptiveness is perfectly developed. When Holmes sees Watson walking into his house, he immediately deduces from Watson’s manners, clothes, and a track of mud that he was recently wet, saying: my eyes tell me that on the inside of your left shoe, just where the firelight strikes it, the leather is scored by six almost parallel cuts. Sherlock Holmes is a tough character who practically never shows his emotions and feelings toward other persons. However, in â€Å"A Scandal in Bohemia†, Irene Adler is someone more for Holmes then just another person in his riddle. â€Å"To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex† (Doyle 21), Watson says, observing that Holmes never talks about any other woman like he does about Irene Adler. Nevertheless, it is not that Holmes fell in love with her, only that at this one time he got deceptive by a woman (Doyle 21). America In World War 2 America's involvement in World War Two When war broke out, there was no way the world could possibly know the severity of this guerre. Fortunately one country saw and understood that Germany and its allies would have to be stopped. America's Involvement in World War two not only contributed in the eventual downfall of the insane Adolph Hitler and his Third Reich, but also came at the precise time and moment. Had the United States entered the war any earlier the consequences might have been worse. Over the years it has been an often heated and debated issue on whether the United States could have entered the war sooner and thus have saved many lives. To try to understand this we must look both at the people's and government's point of view. Just after war broke out in Europe, President Roosevelt hurriedly called his cabinet and military advisors together. There it was agreed that the United States stay neutral in these affairs. One of the reasons given was that unless America was directly threatened they had no reason to be involved. This reason was a valid one because it was the American policy to stay neutral in any affairs not having to with them unless American soil was threatened directly. Thus the provisional neutrality act passed the senate by seventy-nine votes to two in 1935. On August 31, Roosevelt signed it into law. In 1936 the law was renewed, and in 1937 a "comprehensive and permanent" neutrality act was passed (Overy 259). The desire to avoid "foreign entanglements" of all kinds had been an American foreign policy for more than a century. A very real "geographical Isolation" permitted the United States to "fill up the empty lands of North America free from the threat of foreign conflict"(Churchill 563). Even if Roosevelt had wanted to do more in this European crisis (which he did not), there was a factor too often ignored by critics of American policy-American military weakness. When asked to evaluate how many troops were available if and when the United States would get involved, the army could only gather a mere one hundred thousand, when the French, Russian and Japanese armies numbered in millions. Its weapons dated from the first World War and were no match compared to the new artillery that Germany and its allies had. "American soldiers were more at home with the horse than with the tank" (Overy 273). The air force was just as bad if not worse. In September 1939 the Air Corps had only 800 combat aircrafts again compared with Germany's 3600 and Russia's 10,000 . American military Aviation (AMA) in 1938 was able to produce only 1,800, 300 less than Germany, and 1,400 less than Japan. Major Eisenhower, who was later Supreme commander of the Allied forces in the second World War, complained that America was left with "only a shell of military establishment" (Chapman 234 ). As was evident to Roosevelt the United states military was in no way prepared to enter this European crisis. Another aspect that we have to consider is the people's views and thought's regarding the United States going to war. After all let us not forget that the American government is there "for the people and by the people" and therefore the people's view did play a major role in this declaration of Neutrality. In one of Roosevelt's fireside chats he said "We shun political commitments which might entangle us In foreign wars...If we face the choice of profits or peace-this nation must answer, the nation will answer 'we choose peace' ",in which they did. A poll taken in 1939 revealed that ninety-four per cent of the citizens did not want the united states to enter the war. The shock of World War one had still not left ,and entering a new war, they felt, would be foolish. In the early stages of the war American Ambassador to London was quoted saying "It's the end of the world, the end of everything" ( Overy 261). As Richard Overy notes in The Road To War, this growing "estrangement" from Europe was not mere selfishness. They were the values expressed by secretary of state, Cordel Hull: "a primary interest in peace with justice, in economic well-being with stability, and conditions of order under the law". Surveying is the technique and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional space position of points and the distances and angles between them. These points are usually, but not exclusively, associated with positions on the surface of the Earth, and are often used to establish land maps and boundaries for ownership or governmental purposes. In order to accomplish their objective, surveyors use elements of geometry, engineering, trigonometry, mathematics, physics, and law. Historically, distances were measured using a variety of means, such as chains with links of a known length, for instance a Gunter's chain or measuring tapes made of steel or invar. In order to measure horizontal distances, these chains or tapes would be pulled taut according to temperature, to reduce sagging and slack. Additionally, attempts to hold the measuring instrument level would be made. In instances of measuring up a slope, the surveyor might have to "break" (break chain) the measurement- that is, raise the rear part of the tape upward, plumb from where the last measurement ended. Historically, horizontal angles were measured using a compass, which would provide a magnetic bearing, from which deflections could be measured. This type of instrument was later improved upon, through more carefully scribed discs providing better angular resolution, as well as through mounting telescopes with reticles for more precise sighting atop the disc. Additionally, levels and calibrated circles allowing measurement of vertical angles were added, along with venires for measurement down to a fraction of a degree- such as a turn-of-the-century transit. The simplest method for measuring height is with an altimeter using air pressure as an indication of height. But for surveying more precision is needed. Toward this end, a variety of means, such as precise levels, have been developed. Levels are calibrated to provide a precise plane from which differentials in height between the instrument and the point in question can be measured, typically through the use of a vertical measuring rod. As late as the 1990s the basic tools used in planar surveying were a tape measure for determining shorter distances, a level for determines height or elevation differences, and a theodolite, set on a tripod, with which one can measure angles, combined with triangulation. Starting from a position with known location and elevation, the distance and angles to the unknown point are measured. A more modern instrument is a total station, which is a theodolite with an electronic distance measurement device and can also be used for leveling when set to the horizontal plane.
